AND HERE WE ARE

As it may have been noted earlier, as a matter of course, we here do not take a partisan view on issues. The key  agenda to our site is to spur discussion and we hold the idea that the reader may well take the time to investigate further what was presented and engage in discussion around  their orbit.

However, the times we live in are now steeped in chaos and wrongful thinking and a complete disregard for norms, not to mention the rule of law – what used to be a mainstay of our society. These times call for an awakening among those who care and the advancing of the truth, be it sometimes painful to hear.

Allow me a quote

“The less talent they have, the more pride, vanity and arrogance they have. All these fools however find other fools who applaud them….”. It is from a long long time ago, 1509 to be precise, and the author is one Erasmus – a  Dutch priest and scholar during the Renaissance period and proponent of synergism. Be it a quote from long ago, its relevance to today is on point.

In the election of 2024, in spite of a host of aberrant  behaviors in an earlier term , a long history of fraud and grifting, convictions of fraud, defamation and sexual assault and thirty- four felony convictions, the country elected to the office of president one who has no regard for norms or the rule of law.

One can speculate as to the forces that ended in this election but, in addition to the adage of fear and ignorance winning almost every election, there was the open bigotry and the complete unwillingness to elect a woman to the presidency. There were also, with financial picture being less than desirable, the promises of financial solvency, lower cost of living and the absolute that key support programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security would  remain untouched. And then, within an alarming short time, all that proved to be total lies – believed only by the ignorant, the gullible and those who are just plain stupid. 

Now, one can accept that the characterization might be considered harsh but simply consider the facts. The voting populace traded a scholar, an experienced attorney general of one of the largest states, and vice-president in the outgoing administration for a sexual predator, a pathological liar, a mentally unstable grifter suffering from MNPD  and who has caused human suffering on a global level.

As a result, we find ourselves in the throes of chaos and confusion with a side order of intense political division, mostly along party lines. Indeed, the level of division far exceeds that of the sixties and likewise exceeds the intensity of those days.

The question, then , remains, how do we mitigate this condition, correct what can be corrected and, at the very least put the Republic back on the right track to relative normality. As Doctor Franklin noted , “…..if you can keep it ..”. We must now all be about the business of keeping it . 

It is contingent on everyone to be vigilant, be as well informed as one can be, fact check  everything that is important and above all, VOTE. It is long  overdue to cleanse not only the House but also the Senate from all the enablers and bring on board those who honor their oath of office, respect the rule of law,  adhere to the tenets of the Constitution and genuinely represent the best interests of this country which is a far cry from what it is presently.

This is the challenge for this Republic. It is OUR CHALLENGE. Our very status as a free democratic republic is at stake. Nothing less.
